The South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced on the 11th November that South African borders are now open to all countries. All international travel will resume provided that travellers provide a valid certificate of a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test within 72 hours of the date of travel.
The South African government and health authorities are taking extreme measures to keep the virus contained and comprehensive action plans remain in place to handle all cases.
In addition, Kapama Private Game Reserve has pledged to uphold and adhere to the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Standard Protocols for COVID-19 Operations, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kapama Private Game Reserve’s Response Plan
We completely understand that guests may still feel uncomfortable about travelling and Kapama Private Game Reserve remains sensitive to these fears.
The elevation of our already stringent hygiene and cleaning protocols including our game drive vehicles, lodge suites and all guest facilities is our top priority. We have dramatically increased the availability of hand sanitiser throughout all operations.
The daily disinfecting of all surfaces that could be touched by hand have been increased. Intensified inspections & cleaning reports have been implemented.
Key staff members have been identified and trained in all aspects of the COVID-19 by the steps put in place by the South African Health Department utilising the COVID-19 Hotline number: 0800 029 999.
We are advising all of our guests to please adhere to the below essential principles.
- The wearing of a face mask in all public areas
- Regular washing of hands with soap and warm water for longer than 20 seconds
- Avoid coughing or sneezing without having covered your nose and mouth with either a tissue, handkerchief or upper sleeve of your clothing
- Regular, extensive, vigorous use of hand sanitiser
Should Kapama Private Game Reserve be our guest’s final stop before returning home (to borders outside of South Africa), Kapama will be able to assist guests with obtaining a PCR test. Kapama will arrange to transport guests the day before their departure, to a designated medical facility in the town of Hoedspruit. The test will be conducted in the vehicle and results received the following day. The cost of the test is R850. Kapama will bill this amount to the guest’s account so there will be no need to settle the payment at the medical facility.
